URGENT: Nazareth School Scholarship starting academic year 2020/2021

Dear Fellow Alumni,

I hope this finds you well and healthy in these trying times.

Although slightly delayed this year because of COVID, the scholarship program is still on.  Sister Violet and St. Joseph’s Director have both informed the local education authorities that the scholarship is up and running! So, we need to step up, and quickly line up the sponsors for the 10 new students in 9th Grade. These spots are reserved for Alumni Scholarship recipients.

As in the past, I am hopeful that we as an alumni group and friends of alumni, will be successful in securing all 10 scholarships for the academic year 2020/2021; and by doing so, provide educational opportunity at Nazareth School for 10 deserving young girls who are in need of financial support.

As you consider to sponsor a student(s), please note that the scholarship package, other than tuition and fees, must include certain mandatory expenses of the student, including uniforms, school supplies and transportation.  I will be happy to share with you a budget, which covers the mandatory items plus a few more items that our group (class of 1978) considered necessary, and therefore, include in the scholarship package.  You are welcome to use this budget “as is”, or revise, but those mandatory expenses must be included in your scholarship package.

As always, the selection process will be rigorous. Students referred to the scholarship program will have to take Nazareth School High School entrance exam, and attend interviews before final selection. Please note, the scholarship program is receiving greater recognition among alumni; therefore, given that there are ONLY 10 scholarship spots reserved, early response is encouraged.

If you are interested in sponsoring a student (s), either as an individual or as a group, please contact Sister Violet (makokhaviolet@yahoo.com) cc:me (HelenTTeshome@yahoo.com)  by September 15th .  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Sister Violet or myself.

God bless you,

Helen
